Description:

Spanish Teacher (K–8) St. John the Baptist Catholic School is seeking a joyful, mission-driven Spanish Teacher to join our faculty. We are a vibrant Catholic community committed to academic excellence, faith formation, and the development of the whole child. The ideal candidate will cultivate both language proficiency and a love for Hispanic culture while supporting the spiritual growth of our students.

Position Overview

The Spanish Teacher provides engaging, standards-aligned instruction to students in grades K–8. This teacher builds foundational language skills in younger grades and develops conversational fluency, grammar, reading, and cultural understanding in upper grades.

This is a part-time position beginning in August of 2026.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and administration
  • Support the Catholic mission of the school in word and witness

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or related field

  • Colorado teaching license (or ability to obtain)
  • Fluency in Spanish (native or near-native proficiency preferred)
  • Experience teaching elementary or middle school students
  • Practicing Catholic preferred (or strong support of Catholic mission required)
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the classroom and school environment for extended periods
  • Ability to sit, kneel, or work at student level (including floor or child-height seating) as needed
  • Ability to bend, reach, and carry instructional materials up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to actively supervise students in classrooms, hallways, and outdoor settings (e.g., recess, arrival, dismissal)
  • Ability to use a computer, instructional technology, and classroom equipment for extended periods
  • Ability to write, demonstrate, and present instructional material on boards or screens
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both English and Spanish
  • Ability to respond promptly to student needs, including basic safety and behavioral situations

This position is scheduled for fewer than 30 hours per week and therefore does not qualify for employer-sponsored medical, dental, or vision insurance under Archdiocesan policy.

Compensation

Compensation is based on the Archdiocese of Denver Teacher Salary Scale and is determined by verified years of teaching experience and educational attainment (Bachelor’s degree, advanced coursework, or Master’s degree).

This is a part-time position (approximately 27 hours per week / 0.65 FTE). Salary will be prorated to 0.65 FTE based on the approved Archdiocesan salary scale for the 2026–2027 school year.

For the 2026–2027 school year, the anticipated prorated annual salary range for this position is:

$27,000 – $41,600 annually, depending on placement on the Archdiocesan salary schedule.

This position does not include commissions or performance bonuses. Additional stipends may be available for approved extracurricular responsibilities or school programs.
