Description Position Summary : As an Interpreter in our Early Intervention Program, you will play a vital role in bridging communication between families and our team of specialists. By providing accurate interpretation and translation, you ensure that families receive the support, resources, and services they need to help their children grow and thrive. This is a meaningful opportunity to make an immediate impact while working alongside dedicated professionals in a collaborative, family-centered environment. Must be fluent in Spanish and English Compensation : $35/hour Hours : 3 to 10 hours/week Key Responsibilities Provide real‑time interpretation (verbal and/or sign language) during home visits, center‑based sessions, telehealth appointments, and group meetings. Translate written communications including parent letters, newsletters, reports, Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs), and other program documents. Support Early Intervention Specialists during visits by ensuring clear, culturally competent communication with families. Maintain professional boundaries with families, children, and team members to ensure ethical, safe, and respectful interactions. Collaborate with team members to deliver high‑quality, family‑centered services. Maintain confidentiality and comply with all KDC policies, Department of Public Health (DPH) regulations, and program standards. Perform additional duties related to service delivery as assigned. Problem‑Solving & Initiative: Identifies challenges in communication or service delivery and proactively works toward solutions. Organizational Skills: Manages multiple tasks, documentation, and scheduling efficiently. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Ability to travel between client homes and community settings; must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Frequent periods of sitting, standing, and walking during home visits and meetings. Occasional bending, stooping, or kneeling to communicate at a child’s level. Ability to carry light materials (such as a laptop, tablet, or educational resources), typically under 20 lbs. Sufficient hearing and speech to interpret spoken language clearly or visual acuity to interpret sign language accurately and observe nonverbal cues. Manual dexterity and finger mobility to type and enter documentation on a computer, tablet, or mobile device. Work is primarily conducted in clients’ homes, which can vary in layout, cleanliness, temperature, and noise level. Possible exposure to household pets, allergens, or secondhand smoke. Regular contact with infants and young children; occasional exposure to common childhood illnesses. Travel required in varied weather and road conditions; schedule may include evenings or weekends depending on family needs.
