Methodist Health System is seeking a dedicated Police Officer PRN to join our Safety, Security & Law Enforcement department within our Healthcare & Medical Services environment. In this role, you will provide a visible, professional law enforcement presence across our hospital facilities to help ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. You will patrol buildings, grounds, and parking areas; respond to calls for service; investigate disturbances, thefts, and safety concerns; and enforce applicable laws, regulations, and hospital policies with integrity, compassion, and accountability. The Police Officer PRN will conduct security assessments, monitor access control points, and support emergency department operations, including assisting clinical teams with high‑risk situations, patient escorts, and emergency response. You will perform incident reporting and documentation, preserve evidence when needed, and collaborate closely with hospital leadership, clinical staff, and local law enforcement agencies to reduce risk and maintain order. This position requires sound judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional in high‑stress, fast‑paced clinical settings. Officers must be able to de‑escalate volatile situations, use appropriate defensive tactics when necessary, and apply crisis intervention techniques consistent with Methodist Health System’s commitment to compassionate care. You will participate in ongoing training related to hospital security, use of force, de‑escalation, emergency preparedness, and relevant state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate has previous law enforcement or armed security experience, strong report writing skills, and a customer‑service mindset that balances safety with respect and dignity for every individual. As a PRN (as‑needed) team member, you will work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to provide coverage based on operational needs across Methodist Health System facilities in Texas, contributing to our mission to improve and save lives while upholding a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture.
