Garden Grove Unified School District offers a position with a salary range of $25.41 to $30.95 hourly. This part-time job is available in various locations in California.
Open to the general public and district employees, eligibility lists will be good for twelve (12) months. We are only accepting online applications for this recruitment. Applications can only be completed and submitted during the filing period of May 26, 2026, to May 29, 2026, by 5:00 p.m. Tentative test dates are as follows: Multiple Choice Exam on Friday, June 12, 2026; Performance Exam on Thursday, June 25, 2026; and Oral Rating Exam on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Due to recruitment timeline, reschedules cannot be accommodated. All new hires will be placed at the starting salary step of this classification ($25.41). Employees are eligible for a step increase on their anniversary date each year, up to the maximum step 5 of this salary range ($30.95). Persons in these positions work from 3 to 3.5 hours per day, morning or afternoon shift, either school session, 10, 11, or 12 months per year. Under supervision, performs a variety of receptionist, clerical, and keyboarding work involving specific routines and broadly defined policies and procedures; and performs related work as required.
Education and experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of experience equivalent to full-time work in office clerical work. Part-time experience will be considered and adjusted appropriately. Any other combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required skills, knowledge, and abilities may be considered. Knowledge of current office practices and procedures. Ability to maintain clerical records and compile simple reports; learn and interpret rules, regulations, and instructions; spell correctly and use proper English grammar and punctuation; compare names and numbers rapidly and accurately; perform clerical work with speed and accuracy; operate a variety of office equipment including a computer; work cooperatively with others.

The district reserves the right to invite applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the requirements needed for the position to continue in the examination process. The examination may consist of an evaluation of training and experience, multiple choice, performance, and oral/technical exams. A qualifying score must be achieved on all portions of the examination in order to be placed on the open eligibility list. Outside and district candidates will be placed on one ranked list, with eligible permanent district employees receiving five seniority points which will be added to their final scores. Garden Grove is a merit system (civil service) school district. Employment and promotions are based upon merit, fitness, and qualifications. The person selected to fill any regular position will be from among the top three ranks on the eligibility list approved by the Personnel Commission. All regular employees will serve a six (6) month probation. Proof of freedom from active tuberculosis must be furnished prior to employment and must be based upon an intradermal Mantoux tuberculin skin test completed within the last 60 days. All new employees will be fingerprinted.
All classified employees receive the following benefits: up to 22 paid vacation days per year, up to 14 paid holidays per year, up to 12 sick leave days per year with unlimited accumulation, and Social Security coverage. All regular classified employees who are employed 30 hours or more a week are eligible for the following additional benefits: medical, dental, and vision insurance for the employee and family; life insurance for the employees; and a generous retirement plan (CalPERS).
